Abstract
Research on the educational potential of technology-enhanced science learning is contradictory leaving developers and practitioners wondering how best to exploit its apparent value. The Technology-Enhanced Learning in Science (TELS) Center, funded by the United States National Science Foundation has carried out a five-year long research program to establish promising ways to use modern technologies to teach science. TELS created a learning environment called the Web-based Inquiry Science Environment (WISE) and developed exemplary curriculum materials for students age 11 to 18. TELS tested and refined these materials with over 300 teachers and 30,000 students. The curriculum, assessments, and professional development activities were aligned using the knowledge integration framework. This talk will summarize and synthesize the findings from this research
