Prospectivestudieshaveidentifiedpredictorsofthepathtowardchronicaggression,leadingtoageneraldevelopmentalmodel.Thismodelhasbeenusedtocreatealong-termpreventiveinterventionprogramcalledFastTrack.Theprogramidentifiesfive-year-oldchildrenathighriskandinterveneswiththemcontinuouslyfor10yearsinthedomainsofparenting,peerrelations,academicperformance,andsocialcognition.Arandomizedcontrolledtrialhasbeenimplementedtoevaluatetheefficacyoftheprogram.Findingsindicatethatrandomassignmenttointerventionleadstoimprovedoutcomesinpsychiatricdiagnosesofconductdisorder,arrests,andutilizationofhealthservices,butprimarilyamongthehighest-riskgroupofchildren.
