Translational cognitive neuroscience in neurodegenerative diseases
报告摘要:
Clinical neuropsychology has a crucial role in the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases. The recent interest in prodromal Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and the fronto-temporal dementia spectrum (FTD) has raised the interest in specific and sensitive tools for the assessment of cognition. In my talk I will discuss the implications of current cognitive neuroscience models, in particular in the areas of language and social cognition, for the development of new diagnostic tools. In addition, the contribution of neurodegenerative diseases to our understanding of the large-scale brain networks subserving these functions is highlighted by the recent advances in structural and functional neuroimaging, based on positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance, in combination with innovative testing procedures.
报告人简介:
Stefano F. Cappa received his M.D. at the University of Milano,.in which he completed his neurology training. He has held assistant professor and associate professor positions in Neurology and Neurological Rehabilitation at the University of Brescia, and has been full professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at the Vita Salute S. Raffaele University from 1999. He is now professor and head of the biomedical classes at IUSS Pavia, Italy; he is also Honorary Senior Research Associate at University College, London. He has spent research periods at Boston University, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at University of California San Diego, at the Medical Research Council Cyclotron Unit of Hammersmith Hospital in London and at the Max Planck Institut for Cognitive Neuroscience in Leipzig. His main research areas are: acquired and developmental language disorders; dementia and neurodegenerative disorders: diagnosis, neuropsychological features, imaging, cognitive studies of memory, language and social cognition; applications of imaging/neurophysiological methods to the study of cognition, with a special emphasis on language, semantic memory and social cognition (single photon emission tomography, positron emission tomography, structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging, evoked potentials, transcranial magnetic stimulation); neuropsychological and neurological rehabilitation. He has published more than 250 original paper in refereed journals, in addition to many review papers, book chapters and 5 edited/authored books. His H index (Google Scholar) is 65.
祝好!
