报告题目:The normal development  and aging of human brain networks studied with multimodal MRI

报告摘要:The human brain can be  considered as a complex system or network. Recent advances on the quantitative  analysis of complex networks, based largely on graph theory, have been rapidly  applied to studies of topological organization of brain network. The structural  and functional systems of the human brain show important topological properties,  such as small-world, highly connected hubs, and modularity. We  have built a large-scale Japanese brain MRI database, which includes the  multimodal neuroimaging data of more than 2,500 healthy subjects aged from 6-80  years. We were previously engaged in the studies of structural brain networks  using structural MRI and diffusion MRI data, and the studies of functional brain  networks using resting-state fMRI data. The small-world and modular  organizations in both structural and functional brain networks were identified  in healthy children and adults. Moreover, the quantifiable network properties  showed significant age-related changes during normal development and aging.  These findings might contribute to our knowledge of network topology and  dynamics in the healthy, developing, and aging brain. In this talk, I will  present our methodology of brain network studies and the applications in normal  development and aging. Additionally, I will also present future research  directions in this field.
