各位老师:

您好!由实验室丁国盛老师课题组邀请了意大利San  Raffaele Milan 大学的Jubin Abutalebi 来实验室作报告,欢迎感兴趣的老师和同学去听。以下为讲座信息:

报告题目:The  neurocognition of language control in bilinguals.

报告时间:11月12日(周一)上午9:30

报告地点:小楼三楼,  小会议室

报告人:Jubin  Abutalebi, Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychology Faculty, University  Vita Salute San Raffaele, Milan

报告摘要:A  key question in bilingual language research is how individuals control the use  of their two languages in order to prevent unwanted interferences from the  non-target language. There is now ample psycholinguistic literature concerning  language control and it is debated whether control constitutes a main feature of  bilingual language processing. During my talk, I will first show that  neuroimaging data does, indeed, support the notion that cognitive control is an  active component of bilingual language processing. I will, moreover, show that  there is also neural evidence that this unique “control faculty of bilinguals”  may lead to some cognitive advantages in everyday life. These cognitive  advantages exhibited by bilinguals, in turn, may tune up the bilingual brain and  make it less vulnerable to cognitive decline.

报告人简介:Jubin  Abutalebi, MD, ?born in Vienna (Austria) is a Professor of Neuropsychology and a  cognitive Neurologist at the Faculty of Psychology, University Vita Salute San  Raffaele, Milan, Italy. He  graduated with Summa cum Laude at the University of Brescia Medical School in  1998, and specialized with Summa Cum Laude in Neurology at the University Vita  Salute San Raffaele in 2003. His main research activities focus on the cerebral  architecture underlying cognitive functions in brain-damaged and normal healthy  populations by employing functional neuroimaging techniques. His research has  contributed to enlighten the cerebral basis of bilingualisms and the neural  mechanism of language recovery in aphasics. His recent research is focused on  the cognitive advantages of bilingualism. He is the incoming editor-in-chief of  the Cambridge University Press journal “Bilingualism: Language &  Cognition”.
