讲座题目：The visual  corticostriatal loop: Perceptual category learning and category working  memory

内容摘要：The  corticostriatal system is a recurrent network connecting basal ganglia with  cortex through which the basal ganglia exert a plastic modulatory influence on  cortical representations. Corticostriatal networks participate in a broad  variety of cognitive processes, including executive functions, decision making,  response selection, and language processing. In this talk I will focus on the  visual corticostriatal loop connecting the posterior caudate nucleus with visual  cortical regions of the temporal and extrastriate occipital lobe. I will discuss  what we know about how the basal ganglia influence visual cortex and contribute  to visual category learning. I will then discuss how the visual corticostriatal  loop may interact with frontoparietal systems to maintain category information  in working memory, and compare category working memory with item working  memory.
